Riccardo Baldi and La Staffa
In a part of Le Marche where the classic Italian white wine Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi is produced, the Baldi family first created La Staffa in 1994. The beginnings were small and served as a way to meet the wine needs of their family. As the years passed, La Staffa grew and now is approximately 10 hectares of biodynamic vineyards.
Now, the son - Riccardo Baldi has taken the helm. At the age of 27, he has 7 of his own vintages under his belt. While his passion is constantly evident, he possesses a maturity that is conveyed in his vision for the future of La Staffa. He has implemented a complete ban of all chemical herbicides, pesticides or fertilizers in the vineyards is in place and only biodynamic preparations are used.
In the cellar, only native yeast is utilized. Just as in the vineyard, with all winemaking, Riccardo acts with total respect for the grape and for the viticultural traditions of the area. The family produces wine exclusively from grapes grown on estate vineyards.
